Teaching

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying all of this beautiful sunshine and warm weather.  It’s about time right?

Well any ways I want to ask you all a question – How many Sunday Papers do you buy for your coupons?

I just started back couponing 3 weeks ago and needless to say some of the deals I wanted to do, I did not have the coupons as I have not been buying Sunday papers.  In the past I purchased (4) and we all know those papers are expensive!!!

So I have been purchasing coupons from a coupon clipping service and I have to say I am liking it.  I get the exact coupons that I like in bundles of 10 or 20 for less than the price of newspapers.  I may start purchasing just one paper just so I know what coupons we have for the week and order the rest.

I would like to hear from you and what you do?

Wendy

Has anyone every heard of an “NBPR” OR no beer required purchase rebate?

Well 3 years ago I had not either.  Since I found out about them and how to effectively use them I earn myself/save a pretty good dollar.  Some months depending on how many I can find in the stores or on ebay I can easily make $200 to $300 a month YES YOU DID HEAR ME CORRECTLY!

Recently a reader posted on my Facebook page that they would like to learn more about them.  In my coupon classes I do teach how to do NBPR’s but I thought I would start doing a weekly post for those of you who would like to learn and earn some extra cash.  Especially now with the Holiday’s so close and well the economy being what it is.

So below are the steps on how/where to find NBPR rebates.  From this point foward every Tuesday I will share a new NBPR saving opportunity.

Why Is This A Great Way To Save Money

Well in several states AL, AR, CT, HI, KY, MA, ME, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NY, RI,  SD, UT, VA, AND WV (are usually the only ones) that you DON’T have to purchase the beer in order to receive the rebate.  So in the image above Save $5 WYB Salty Snacks, Water, Ice or a Cooler (fine print purchase must exceed $5) so let’s say $5.01.

Buy Ideal – what I actually did to score this rebate using Tops Markets Sale

Tostitios 2/$5
Bag of Ice $1.29
= $6.29
- $1/2 Coupons
Dollar Doubler
= $4.29
Submit for NBPR of $5 – a .71¢ Profit and FREE Chips and Ice

**NOTE** the price you spend  before coupons is the price the rebate companies go by!

Where To Find NBPR’S

You can find NBPR rebates right in your grocery store & gas stations.  There will be either stuck right to the box of beer or there will be a display with a tear off pad.  In my area they have been next to impossible to find.  So I do purchase a lot on ebay.  You will need to type in NBPR Rebate in the search field to bring up all available rebates.

Read The Fine Print

It is SUPER important that you read the fine print on the back of the Rebate.  If purchasing on ebay there is either a picture image and/or a written description on all of the details of the the Rebate.

(Image is from a rebate from a while ago)

  1. Make sure you know what the requirements are – Receive $20 WYB at least $80 in groceries
  2. Make sure it is in your qualifying state – YUP NY is one of them
  3. What do you need to send or do along with the Rebate Form – A receipt with the circled items
  4. When do you have to purchase the items – 11/1 – 1/3
  5. Postmark date – 1/17
  6. Receive by – 1/31

Other Important Details

  • Only (1) Rebate is allowed per name & address.  So I have a few family members that help me out :)
  • ALWAYS make a copy of the rebate and receipt.  There have been several times that I did not fill something out correctly and I had the rebate/receipt as a point of referance
  • Rebates take 8 – 10 weeks to arrive.  Once you start and you do at least 1 rebate a week, you can look forward to a nice check in the mail weekly!

There are (2) checks for $10 and (1) for $6 so $26 total.

Good luck and stay tuned for next week Tuesday when I will highlight a NBPR rebate

I thought this week I would focus on how to go about earning that FREE 30 gallons of Gas!

Let’s take a look at the how this program works:
  • For every coupon you redeem you earn 10 gas points. You may earn 100 gas points or use 10 coupons per transaction. (if you use 11 coupons or more you will not receive any gas points for anything over 10 coupons). It is best to split up your transactions. In order to earn the most gas points!
  • Earn 1 gas point for every dollar you spend. This is calculated after all store discounts and after all store coupons have been subtracted from the order. No points are earned on sales tax.
  • Earn Bonus Gas Points by shopping special in store promotions!
  • You may redeem your gas points up to 30 gallons of gas. (most stores will allow you to bring 2 gas cans also).

We now know how the program works. But how can you earn a FREE tank of gas?  Let me break it down to make it a little more simple  for you.

  1. Let’s set a goal of 4000 points to earn which equals to $4 off a gallon
  2. There are usually 9 weeks to earn gas points
  3. 4000 ÷ 9 = 444
  4. 444 points to be earned each week!

Now that we know how many points we need to average a week, 444 how do you earn them?

  1. I look for the Gas Bonus Point Deals. They usually are for 200 points.  I like to do  at least one of these deals, only if they are a good buy (which they usually are)
  2. So you now have 200 points and you need 244 more to reach your weekly average of 444
  3. I then use coupons for the rest of my gas point earning.  Remember 10 points per coupon up to 10 per transaction.  So 244 ÷ 10 = 24.4  or let’s just round to 25 coupons
  4. When you do the 200 Gas Bonus Deals you are using coupons to bring down your cost.  So let’s say that is 6 coupons used.  25 – 6 = 19.  You now need to use 19 more coupons
  5. So that can be pretty easy.  Look for sale items that will be FREE or $1 after coupon which there usually are each week.
  6. This week I am doing (2) Transaction of (10) bottles of Sun Drop Soda which is on sale for $1 and there is a $1 off coupon making them FREE, I need to pay tax and deposit.  See this weeks deals post.  That is my 20 coupons more needed for the week!
  7. I have now earned my weekly average of 444 gas points.

You can also just do the 200 Bonus Gas Point Deals to make it easy on yourself
  1.  (2) Bonus 200 Gas Point Deals = 400
  2. Then you just need 5 more coupons, which I am sure you used when doing your 200 Bonus Gas Deals 5 * 10 = 50
  3. You just earned  450  gas points.

It really is that easy if you break it down and keep track of your earnings.  In no time at all you will have earned your FREE 30 gallons of gas and maybe even more!

When reading some of my posts on coupons to print you may have noticed that I direct you to print from a specific zip code,  this happens mostly on Coupons.com.  However, this will hold true for Red Plum and Smart Source.  For those of you who don’t know where/what I am referring to here is a screen shot of were you need to put that zip code in on Coupons.com.

Well why is that?

Did you know that some zip codes are better than others?

Yup they sure are! If you think about it the bigger the city the better/more coupons the manufacturers will put out to that area!  This is wonderful for us as we can plug in those zip codes and search for some unique coupons that may not be in our smaller communities!

Below is a list of zip codes with their corresponding city and state.  I have marked in red that typically have the most/better coupons.  These are the zip codes that I go first to find you the best coupons!

02180 – Stoneham, Ma
07302 – Jersey City, NJ
10001 – New York, NY
20001 – Washington, Va
22222 – Arlington, Va
30303 – Atlanta, Ga
33133 -  Miami, Fl
60013 – Cary, IL
60609 -  Chicago, IL
77477 – Meadows Place, TX - my favorite!
80840 – Colorado Springs, CO
84121 – Salt Lake City, UT
89145 – Las Vegas, NV
90210 – Beverly Hill, CA
99128 – Farmington, WA
