I have been missing this week and I am sorry for that.  Did I mention a few weeks ago when I started back doing some blogging that I could not guarantee constancy as life changes at a moments notice???

Well I had in the back of my mind that I may end up having surgery on my shoulder as at the time I was going to physical therapy with no improvement of my shoulder, in fact it worsened.

So how did I injure my left shoulder?

  • In December (1 week after my husband left) I was stretching my daughter’s tights for ballet in a bathroom stall and my left hand slipped and flew backwards up by my head hitting the stall door.  Then two weeks later while taking my daughter out to the bus I slipped on the front porch and grabbed the railing with (of course my left arm) to stop myself from falling and hyper extended my arm back again but this time around my waist.  Needless to say both time I experienced EXCRUCIATING PAIN.  Being the single and well STUBBORN women I am I ignored it for a month but the pains was to great, 8 weeks of physical therapy, MRI and here I am.

What have I injured?

How to fix my shoulder:

  • My Dr. the day of the surgery needs to see the extent of the damage to determine one of two options.
  • To Start Off With – I am going to start of with having a nerve block in my neck to put my arm to sleep. I have to be awake  for this procedure so I can  communicate that I have no feeling in my arm. My doctor has to do that because even though I will be a sleep for the surgery my nerve will be awake and as my shoulder is so painful it will still communicate message to the joint and the muscles. So he needs to put the nerves asleep to be able to move my arm freely.
  • Option 1 – Drill holes into the bone and have “tie downs” instead over the tear and time it down to the bone. Then have to grind away bone to make it bleed to stimulate circulation to help facilitate healing. Recovery 5-6 months and I may end up with a frozen shoulder. DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A GOOD OPTION TO ME!
  • Option 2 – If the tendon that attaches to my bicep is also torn (which is putting pressure on the tear) is bad the only solution is to cut the tendon and relocate it to the outer aspect of my shoulder. Recovery 3-4 months and I may end up still not having full range of motion.

What that means

Well seeing as the surgery is less that 2 weeks away (May 7th) this single mom has 1001 things to get done:

  • Make plans for my daughter to stay with her dad 2 weeks post surgery
  • Get Elmer the Basset Hound groomed and to the vet for his allergy shot
  • Clean out the flower beds for spring
  • Grocery shopping
  • Find people to mow my 2 acre for a while
  • Shopping to find a comfy bra (cuz I won’t be able to have much pressure on my shoulder)
  • Get my guest bedroom ready for my mom to stay to help me out
  • and…and…and…and

So needless to say

  • I won’t be blogging again for a while
  • When I can I will update you all here.
  • Wish me luck and I hope to be chatting with you all soon!

My Wegmans Shopping Trip 4/20/13

by admin on April 22, 2013

If you are a regular follower of mine you know how much I LOVE shopping at Wegmans.  In my area their meat and produce is the freshest and sold at a good price.  I also like that when an item is on sale, it is for a few weeks so you don’t have to run out and get it ASAP.  I can order some coupons and purchase a few items here and there.  I also like the CLP items, they are hard to beat (often lower than Aldi’s).

So here is my recent shopping trip.  I try not to use a lot of coupons as Wegmans is not “a coupon friendly” store IMOP.   I plan on going back and purchasing several more of the items above.

You will see I have several coupons that are listed as regional.  Each Sunday I compare what coupons I received in my insert vs what “higher” regional coupon is.  Often times I will order the higher value coupon through a coupon clipping service.

(4) Fiber One 90 cal. bars $2.50 – on sale thru 4/27
(1) Lysol Wipes 90 ct $3.99 – on sale to 5/4
